Rob Mabee is a Canadian curator and marketer that finds his wheelhouse merging the worlds of culture and community.

A born connector, this Calgarian has a passion for his home city and has played a critical role in establishing some of Calgary’s noted arts and cultural landmarks. With a keen eye for emerging talent, his gallery business, Axis Contemporary Art, launched successful careers for many new artists.

Mabee also provided strategic commercial leasing to create Axis’s home, Art Central, a curated multi-tenant mix of arts businesses restaurants and shops.  Prior to that as the director of Artspace, Rob led a team that transformed a former slaughterhouse into a cutting-edge arts marketplace and incubator for entrepreneurial businesses while creating one of the cities hippest event venues.

In 2014, leveraging his experience in business and the arts, Mabee successfully pivoted his focus on brand marketing, strategy and events both in collaboration with the Toronto firm, Republic, and as an independent contractor. Mabee has contributing to communications, media and brand campaigns for a diverse collection of clients that includes UNICEF Canada and Giorgio Armani.

Mabee was cited by Avenue magazine as the local expert in how to gracefully enter and exit a party conversation and considers among his career highlights being interviewed in his bathtub by an Andy Warhol impersonator. He divides his work time between his home in downtown Calgary and Toronto.
